FOOTBALL FAN'S GUIDE
Williams and Johnson
Pictured is the first edition of this popular guide which has since been updated several times.  The general format is retained throughout the series with each League ground getting a three-page spread of information ranging from maps to pubs and fanzines to 'fear factor'.  Facilities at grounds are rated with the visiting supporter in mind and ratings are given for toilets, tea bar, stewarding etc.  A very useful book for the away travelling League fan.

ROUGH GUIDE TO EUROPEAN FOOTBALL
Rough Guides
The well respected 'Rough Guides' series has now turned its hand to producing football guides, and a good effort they have made too!  The first book (illustrated) sold beyond expectations and this has now been followed up by a fully updated version for the 1999-2000 season.  It cannot be described as comprehensive as only a select number of grounds for each country gets the 'Rough Guide' treatment.  What is there however is well worth reading and it is a book which has seen good service to many a Euro-traveller.

BRITISH FOOTBALL GROUNDS Then and Now
Heatley and Ford
The original edition of this book was not comprehensive as it actually missed out a few clubs!  Those that were featured were given varying amounts of space dependant on the interest level of each.  The format of the book is to show a mixture of 'then and now' photographs of the grounds of the featured club.  This is accompanied by a brief historical narrative.  Basically the idea is sound but such a subject cannot be covered in 160 pages!  Other books in the series have since been produced including cricket and an updated version for football.
