NEWTOWN

August 2001 will mark the fiftieth anniversary of football at Latham Park, fifty years during which the spectator facilities have been gradually improved to the extent that the ground now finds itself a regular venue for international matches. In keeping with Latham Park’s growing stature, the large bank of seating next to the main stand has been provided with a massive cantilever roof (Pictured below by Vince Taylor). Dwarfing its neighbour, this dramatic addition to an already impressive ground, boosts the covered seating capacity by a further 800.

CAERNARVON TOWN

Up until the end of November the club had to play all games away from The Oval but at last work has commenced on building a new stand at Marcus Street. The former stand has been dismantled and will be re-erected at the Cae Bob Parry ground of fellow Cymru Alliance side Llangefni Town.

CWMBRAN TOWN

Cwmbran Stadium is being completely refurbished. The main stand is out of action and there are no floodlights at present with matches are kicking off at 2pm.

CWMTILLERY

Cwmtillery AFC, who were accepted into the Welsh League Div 3, are playing on their upgraded Woodland Field ground. New changing rooms were erected on the ground, the stand was refurbished and perimeter fencing was put in place to meet the League's requirements.
Cwmtillery had previously used this ground for reserve games in the North Gwent League, as they used the Colliery Field ground a few hundred yards away for first team games in the Gwent County League. However, that ground - although extremely well-appointed- was unable to meet Welsh League criteria in one significant respect - the cost of erecting covered accommodation on the reclaimed colliery land was prohibitive.

ABERYSTWYTH TOWN

The new Crosville End stand was used for the first time for a League of Wales match against Barry Town in August. Part of a £250,000 development that has also seen the erection of a combined television gantry and executive box, Park Road is fast becoming one of the most attractive and best equipped grounds in the national league.
